9+ years in, and the work doesn’t look anything like it did when I started.
The tools changed. The mediums changed. I began with websites; today I design apps that store staff use all day, and systems that whole teams build on. The way people use products changed too, and I had to change with them.
So I keep learning. New tools, new ways of working, new ways of turning an idea into something people can actually use. I’ve moved from websites to mobile apps and B2B products, from drawing screens to leading a team of six designers and building a design system. I’ve brought AI into my process, so I can test several prototype variants with real users, fast. I dropped a few old habits. The one I kept is talking to the people who use what I design.
Because 9 years of experience isn’t about knowing what’s next. It’s about being curious enough to find out.
Design process
I start by aligning with the client on the business goal, the audience and the constraints. Instead of a long list of requirements, we write down assumptions and risks — what must be true for this product to work. This gives the team a clear focus and the first hypotheses to test.
Research is a continuous habit, not a one-off phase. I use AI to speed up desk research, competitor analysis and interview synthesis, then validate the findings with real people: user interviews, analytics (GA, Hotjar, Clarity) and regular usability tests.
I build several prototype variants fast, using AI and a solid design system, and test them with users before anything is polished. Decisions come from observed behavior, not opinions. The result is validated flows and ready-to-build layouts in Figma.
I work side by side with developers in small increments: clear specs, shared components, quick design reviews. Each slice is checked against the hypothesis before the next one starts.
After release, I track product and business metrics, run A/B tests and gather feedback from real users. What we learn goes straight into the next hypothesis, so the product keeps improving with every iteration.
